Mastersmith Harvey Dean's Board of Director's Knife of the Year
We just received the photo of Harvey Dean's 2012 Board of Director's Knife of the Year from Point Seven and it is an outstanding knife. Thank you Harvey for this outstanding knife!
Harvey Dean is one of the foremost master smiths in the American Bladesmith Society. Harvey's knives are true examples of the forged knife as art. Harvey also serves as a director on the board of the American Bladesmith Society and he graciously volunteered to make one of the 2012 ABS auction knives. Harvey describes this as an "upscale personal carry knife". It has a beautiful damascus six inch blade made from 1075 and 15N20 steels in a classic ladder pattern. All the fittings on the knife are engraved by Harvey. If you look at the knife you can see the delicate engraving on the guard and the fastening pins in the handle. The handle is a spectacular piece of desert ironwood. This is a sole authorship package and the craftsmanship is superb.
Top masters in the world of bladesmithing have donated the most exciting set of auction knives ever seen for the 2012 American Bladesmith Society Annual fund raiser at the 2012 Blade Show and International Cutlery Fair in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, June 9th at 10am in Room #103 of the Cobb Galleria.

Beautiful knife.
I just wanted to ask. Are those mosaic rivets, or are they etched?
Are they engraved?

Johnathan, Harvey used 1/4" handle bolts and then engraved them after finishing the handle. Really clean work and a really nice bowie.

As soon as I am able, I want to start learning to engrave so one day I can engrave with that kind of skill.
