First Knife 2017

5160 with 400 grit finish, blade is 4.5X1.25", 11/64" on the spine, OAL 9.25", browned mild steel guard and carved butt cap, Dark Amber Sambar Stag with nickel silver and leather spacers.

Overall beautiful knife but my 400 grit finish doesn't look that nice!

Jeff, Walnut Ridge is not far from Hernando. I'd be glad to show you how I was taught to get my satin finishes!

Very nice looking knife there Robert.

400 grit is my typical end for a satin finish. Done correctly (as is shown!) it looks great.

I'm curious what problems folks are having with obtaining a 400 grit satin like the one shown.

I think techniques, sanding blocks, and paper used have a lot to do with it.
