Dagger - Butt To Tip Straightness

I'm building a dagger for a fellow and had this little idea about checking for straightness.

I can probably assume that during most dagger construction, many makers will be using some type of temporary finial holding things together. In fact - you don't even need to have any of the components on the knife - just the blade and finial will work.

Chuck up the knife in your mill or pedestal drill press and giver 'er a spin!

The point should remain motionless.

Karl, this is a great idea. You could color one of the center lines to see if they match up from side to side while it's turning. I have used the Phantom image while doing wood turning and metal turning it should also show the blade edges to see if they are the same. Landon
