Work in Progress - 2016 Journeyman Smith Knife of the Year by Stephan Fowler, JS

2016 ABS Knife Auction, Atlanta, GA

ABS Journeyman Smith Stephan Fowler was selected to make the 2016 Journeyman Smith Knife of the Year and has generously agreed to not only make the knife but is currently filming a Work in Progress (WIP) as he builds the knife. The Journeyman Smith Knife of the Year will be part of the Annual ABS Knife Auction in Atlanta, GA at the Atlanta Knife Show in June 2016.

I am starting this thread for Stephan and he will take over and post his progress on the knife. He has been filming his work on the knife and uploading the videos to his YouTube Channel.

Looks great so far. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It's always fun to watch a skilled smith moving metal. I liked when you lever the blade off the edge of the anvil to set the plunge, I've always tried to keep the whole thing flat. Seems like you might get a more crisp pinching your way. Anyway, can't wait to see the rest. Take care.

Great videos Mr. Fowler, thank you for taking the time to make and share them. And thank you Mr Cassidy for the time and efforts it took for you to get them to us.

I actually picked that tip up from Kevin Cashen years ago. It really does help, especially if your wanting a fairly straight drop choil from the ricasso.
