Well i am wondering if anyone has a guide to how a hammer should be dressed for working a blade?

Smooth with no sharp edges. You can use a progression of belts on the hammer face to get any dings out or sharp edges off. I start at 220 and go up from there. Any imperfections on the face will transfer to the blade.
