Good afternoon gentlemen,

I've seen a lot of guys using windex as a neutralizer for FeCL3. So that got me thinking: what else will it neutralize? What else would work? Does simple green neutralize as well? Can windex or simple green neutralize a blade after I electro-etch?

If you have some tips or tricks you'd like to share for neutralizing, or extra uses for windex, please add below!

I use ammonia , then Windex or another degreasing spray cleaner. If there's any doubt, I wash with dish soap and wipe with denatured alcohol.

One of the easiest ways to be sure the etch is going well is I set a timer for 2 minutes and simply lift the blade from the etch without handling it and look at it to see if there's any streaking. If so, I can neutralize and re clean it before any real damage is done. I do this every time I etch.

We all have or ways. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
