Hey George... Just checking in to see if you've been able to make any progress on the build. I'm anxious to see how it turns out and performs.

Hope you're staying dry! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Well first let me show you my MINI GRINDER (!!!), I have been trying to work with. The work is so bad I gave up and started putting money together to buy my KMG. Just as I had the money my A/C blew out and there went my grinder. I had a little money left and I spent it on this starter 2x72.

1x30 mini grinder (LOL)

My new 2x72 grinder

I have grinded my first flat grind that I can say is a flat grind. I took straight 1084 and worked on just some flat bars and they look good. (that was all I could do being V-Day, needed to spend some wife time)

Below are the pictures you ask for. If you need a modification to what you see Jose will do it. I asked to be able to angle my tool rest and to make it larger, he did it.

It cost me just under 700$ with motor and VFD. VFD is a NEMA 1 you can get a NEMA 4 for a bit more mony. I oped for the 1, as I know with a cubic foot of protection and a 45$ remote that is a NEMA 12, I am good to go. Remote is on its way. Email me if you need further info

George

PS: He will paintit a solid color for you if you ask him to. Saves you time, energy, and money

George,

Thanks for posting the pic's. It looks to be a pretty nice machine and, again, a pretty big bang for the buck.

I have to respectfully say that I'm a little "iffy" on the bolt on construction of the tracking assembly but a few passes with the welder could shore that up if it becomes an issue.

Without seeing one in person and actually using it, it's difficult to say how it stacks up to other options out there, but If I were limited in budget and shopping for a variable speed grinder I can't see how this isn't a great option for a start-up situation. A variable speed grinder for $700.00 is an amazing price.

Good on ya!

Please keep us in the loop in regard to it's durability.

Taking the time to post here is potentially helping a lot of us in these tough economical times. Thank you!

Now go wear that belt out! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Rick,

I will keep you updated as I get to use it more. The next few days are booked on some leathercraft projects I promised to do and need to deliver on. As soon as I finish that I am going to start forging and grinding.

Regards,

George
