I plan to buy a used surface grinder, primarily for knife making. From your experience, what are the desirable features and travel extents? Are there specific machines to avoid?

I wish I could help you out Jesse. I have the KMG grinder and I bought the surface grinder attachment from Wuertz Machine works.
