I've been forging blades for just over a year now. I still have tons to learn and to practice, but I'm really happy with the progress I have made in 2019.

This is my first knife of 2019, and what will be my last completed knife of 2019.

If I could give any advice to new makers it would be to be patient, always look for ways to grow, and keep your thumb off your grinder.

You're off to a fine start! Just keep it up refining each aspect and you'll get to a point where your eye and hand will be trained to work together to your satisfaction. As I can readily see, you are reaching forward in skill. This will force you to think and become better at those different stages which will add up to a better knife. Well done!

That is a giant leap, right there.

Well done.

As time goes by, and more knives come out of your shop, it becomes easier to take that image from your mind and bring it into reality. It doesn't happen over night, but when it does, it's very rewarding.

Enjoy the ride and don't get too discouraged.
