It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I share with you the passing of one of the most wonderful persons I have ever known. He was my mentor, my inspiration, and my friend. He gave selflessly of his time and knowledge to a wide variety of students and it made me immensely proud to have him call me one of his apprentices. His spirit lives on in those of us who knew him, shared life and stories with him, and marvelled at his achievements. We will miss him dearly and never forget the gifts he gave us. We can never thank Tim Hancock enough.

This came a shock at our home when I got the news. A great loss indeed.

I met Tim in 2013 he was my knife making mentor and later became a friend. He was so generous with me and so many others. I really enjoyed watching Tim figure out mechanical problems and knife designs. It was an honor to know him.

Even though I wasn't fortunate enough to meet Mr. Hancock, I amd deeply thankful for the contributions he made to the community. It is because of outstanding individuals like Mr. Hancock that newcomers like me can achieve personal success in this craft. I am hopeful that one day I can leave a mark of permanence on this community as he did so that our future generations can know the joy and comradery of knife making. May his legacy be permanent and present in our lives as we try to move forward after this painful news.

Thank you Tim Hancock, I hope heaven's forge is ready for you.
