It seems that another tragedy has struck the knife world as Russ Andrews has lost his shop to a fire this week. Luckily Russ and his wife Nancy are fine.

Russ has a finish shop in his house which is fine so he was able to save his handle supplies but unfortunately his tools in the shop are a near total loss.

It sure hasn't been a good year for the knife world so far.

This is tragic news. I got a text from a collector yesterday morning letting me know. I hope the knife community rallies around Russ in this time of loss. Perhaps someone who knows Russ a little better can find out what we can do to help out.

There is now a thread on the bladeforums to establish a relief fund for the restoration of tools for Russ: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1359584-Russ-Andrews-Shop-Fire-An-Opportunity-to-Help

The converted cinder block garage that housed my shop is pretty much

gutted, and all power tools except my press are shot.....The press will be rebuilt.

Good news is that insurance is covering the building, and will be covering

most of the contents. Donations have helped alot...

We're likely to have a new building constructed here within the month, and

hope to be back at it in 6-8 weeks....depending on arrival of new equipment...

I believe I'm scheduled to demo at Topeka this fall, and don't expect the

recent lump in the road to interfere with that.
