My name is Teddy and I am a knife addict. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I have made some knives forty years ago by adding furniture to 'store bought' blades. I switched to making fine jewelry and operated my own retail studio for 28 years. I closed my studio at the end of June,2012 and decided to finally author knives by making the blades also. This last year, I have sold/traded excess equipment for a nice grinder, steel, and a lot of supplies to get started. I took a class in knife making by stock removal, but it was not productive so I have been reading everything I could and trying to learn how to grind properly.

And then I went to the ABS Hammer In Troy Ohio this past week-end. I learned SOOO much in those 3 days that my feeble brain is still trying to process it all. I now see forging in my future. I have a ton of questions, but I don't know enough to know what to ask. You can be sure I will be asking a lot of questions.

Thanks for having me and look forward to contributing as much as I can to the forum. ...Teddy Finesman

Welcome Teddy, great to have you with us. Any questions, ask away. We will do our best to answer them. By the way, you might want to keep the unimat lathe, could come in handy for things like finials.

Welcome again.

Welcome Teddy,

If you can manage it try to make it to one of the two week "intro" classes. You will shave years off your learning curve and get to meet some wonderful people in the bargain.
